Job Description

Adi Development Group is looking for Health & Safety Coordinators to work on our landmark residential developments.We’re looking for leaders who are ready to revolutionize the industry and provide a tech-enhanced forward thinking approach to elevate all Adi Developments in the construction process for H&S.   • Support the development, implement and promote Adi Development Group’s corporate health & safety policy, in accordance with the Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act, Regulations and Code. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of and OH&S legislation and codes.
  • Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of Adi’s Health and Safety Program including Safe Work Practices/Safe Job Procedures and the Site Emergency Response Plan.
  • Monitor site conditions, activities, and the safety performance of all on-site workers to ensure that all workers on the site work safely and that the general public is protected.
  • Conduct daily on-site inspections and audits for safe physical conditions and safe work practices. Review deficiencies with the supervisory site staff and assist in developing and implementing corrective protocols and procedures.
  • Report and thoroughly investigate all serious incidents of injuries, accidents and near misses; identify root cause and recommend corrective actions. Document findings thoroughly and effectively and report to Management and appropriate government authorities in a timely manner.
  • Ensure health & safety committees are in place, meeting regularly, and documenting their activities in accordance with OH&S requirements.
  • Prepare and distribute safety reports including WSIB, near miss, incident, safety statistics.
  • Ensure delivery of site specific safety training and orientation to workers, owners and clients.
  • Review project plans and project sites before work commences, identifying safety-related risks.
  • Liaise with external parties such as government inspectors, sub-contractors, and general public.
  • Work with project management teams and field workers to implement and devise solutions to safety-related issues on project sites.
  • Administer the WHMIS training program.
  • Identify, maintain and distribute MSDS of all controlled products.
  • Establishing inspection schedules for all tools, major equipment, lifting devices and mobile equipment to ensure safe operating conditions and compliance with current regulations.
  • Assist in the management of WSIB claims, the modified duties and return to work programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What You Bring
  • University degree or college diploma, specializing in occupational health & safety discipline
  • 1+ years of experience coordinating health and safety (construction and residential real estate preferred)
  • Experience in High Rise construction environment is a bonus
  • Knowledge of construction projects with a solid understanding of the Occupation Health and Safety Act (“OHSA”).
  • Understanding of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board System (WSIB) and return to work program.
  • Previous experience in investigating, interviewing, documenting and reporting incidents and accidents in a health & safety context is required
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record and the ability to drive to job site.
  • First Aid including CPR.
  • Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Adaptable and flexible to an ever-changing environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organization and time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and adept at listening and observing
  • Able to build consensus and influence people, particularly in learning situations,
  • Ability to display mature, sound judgment in situations,
  • Ability to work with different types of people and adaptable to different work environments.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work well independently or as a team player
Nice to Have Skills and Experience
  • Training in construction techniques, technical applications or experience working with trades
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) is a strong asset
  • Certificate of Recognition (COR) Auditor and National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) an asset
  • Background in Training and/or Education and or experience delivering EHS Training programs to individuals and groups preferred
