Job Description

Walker EmulsionsWalker Emulsions, a division of Walker Industries, is an innovative manufacturer of sustainable emulsions and related chemistries. Operating locations are in Burlington, Ontario; Orangeburg, South Carolina; and Portland, Oregon. We supply a wide range of high quality asphalt and wax emulsions to Canadian and U.S. markets, used in road construction, pavement preservation, wood products, and many other manufacturing applications.OPERATOR/LABOURERWe’re looking for Operators or Labourers for our manufacturing location in Burlington, Ontario. The best Operators/Labourers are smart, keep themselves organized, and take special care to do a good job. You have great situational awareness. You have the capacity to follow directives and fulfill requests while proactively anticipating to initiate actions to meet needs.Your primary goal will be performing a variety of plant operations and quality control duties to assist in the effective and efficient operations of the plant.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operating process equipment including pumps, tanks, homogenizers, PLCs, and control panels to prepare batches of emulsions.
  • Collecting product samples in accordance with quality control procedures.
  • Recording all process data in accordance with the requirements according to specifications and quality process controls, to ensure accurate production records are available, in consultation with Operations Manager to make batch adjustments as necessary.
  • Operating equipment such as forklifts and shunt trucks.
  • Providing routine inspection of machines and equipment to ensure systems are operating at optimum levels.
  • Troubleshooting, maintaining, and recommending repair of associated process equipment.
  • Identifying opportunities for optimization and improvement.
  • Adhering to preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs and guidelines for all plant equipment.
  • Loading trucks and completing related customs documentation, where required.
  • Offloading trucks containing raw materials, ranging from raw wax and other bulk liquids to totes, drums, and pails.
  • Attending training sessions on health and safety and environmental issues to promote a safe work environment and participates in Superior Safety Culture and EARTH 1st.
  • Flexibility to change work schedule or work additional hours as needed to meet customer demands and production schedule.
Qualifications
  • Labourer Experience: Minimum of six months of experience in industrial manufacturing for the Labourer position.
  • Operator Experience: Minimum of two years of experience in industrial manufacturing for the Operator position
  • Education: Minimum of high school graduation or equivalent. Post-Secondary education, specializing in manufacturing is an asset but not required.
  • License: A valid G Registration Ontario driver’s license.
  • Equipment: Lift truck training an asset.
  • Physical requirements: Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy objects like raw material bags and hoses. Ability to occasionally kneel, reach, stoop, bend, and stretch.
  • Equipment: Ability to use heavy equipment such as loaders, trucks, and production machinery
  • Environment: Ability to work in plant environment with frequent exposure to dust, fumes, heat, etc. Work in a moderately noisy work place.
  • Knowledge of WHMIS practices.
