Job Description

Reporting to the Manager of Community and Youth Development, this position will include the planning and delivery of targeted prevention groups and services with a focus on supporting the 2SLGBTQ+ children/youth and families. This position will include opportunities to provide programming across the Halton region as part of the prevention services team and will work collaboratively with the prevention team, and other ROCK staff to develop and deliver programming.This position is based out of the ROCK Hub program sites and reports to the Manager of Community and Youth Development.Please note that this is a full-time permanent position.RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contribute to the creation of an annual plan for targeted prevention groups/services within ROCK, and the trending needs of clients in the community between Birth & 18 years of age.
  • In alignment with ROCK’s Targeted Prevention standards, coordinate and facilitate service offerings for 2SLGBTQ+ children/youth and families.
  • Maintain a family and youth-centred and engagement approach in the creation and development of all programming.
  • Work with manager/lead to create targeted prevention programming curriculum
  • As part of the Targeted Prevention team, participate in planning for marketing and registration of all programs.
  • Collaborate with other ROCK disciplines to plan, implement and transition clients through services they may require across the agency, including access pathways.
  • Facilitate ROCK programs.
  • Act as program expeditor and manage group waitlists as outlined in the playbook.
  • Ensure all program pre- and post-evaluations are administered and analyzed.
  • Facilitate and maintain client records and data collection, including program statistics for the purpose of required reporting, evaluation, and or research.
  • Operationalize client safety through adhering to established policies and guidelines that ensure consistency in the delivery of quality and safe care, and by identifying and reporting any client safety incidents.
  • Abide by the specific requirements of Section 28 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, as well as any further health and safety responsibilities outlined in the agency’s policy and procedure documents.
  • Other duties as may reasonably be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONSEducation:
  • A degree or diploma in Child and Youth Care or equivalent.
Experience:
  • Lived experience in the 2SLGBTQ+ community.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a community-based environment, preferably, providing groups/workshops/education to children, youth and/or families.
  • Understanding of current issues, struggles and strengths of 2SLGBTQ+ communities.
  • Demonstrated experience in group implementation and development.
  • Strong commitment and knowledge of youth engagement.
Skills:
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong group facilitation skills.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Familiarity with client-data management, screening and evaluation tools.
Requirements:
  • Current (within three months) criminal reference check with vulnerable sector search.
  • Ability to work flexible hours according to program need (this may include evenings or weekend work).
  • Proficient in the use of technology as required of the position, including working in a virtual environment with MAC OS operating systems experience preferred.
  • Must obtain and maintain a valid CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Access to reliable transportation.
