Job Description

About the Position: Reporting to the VP, Marketing and Communications, we are looking for a strong technical writer to create compelling content for various stakeholders including the general public, the financial advisor community and sophisticated institutional investors. They will do this through their knowledge of Canadian real estate, investing and finance and will be able to create compelling content through research as well as by collaborating with various senior executives within the organization. Our ideal candidate would be able to source material through their own experience and research as well as by working directly with key members of staff including the CEO, CFO, CIO, VP Acquisitions, VP Operations, VP Development, and others. They would be skilled at developing content that is both educational and motivational and highlights Equiton’s thought leadership in real estate, finance and investing. Successful candidates must have a minimum of five to ten years of experience in writing in the topics of real estate and investing and be available to work at the company #39;s head office in Burlington, ON. Responsibilities:

  • Develop various content and thought leadership pieces including White Papers, blogs, Annual and Quarterly reports, articles in Financial and Real Estate publications, website copy and internal training documents and communications.
  • Create content through collaboration with key stakeholders including CEO, CFO, CIO, VP Acquisitions, VP Operations, VP Development and others.
  • Ability to tailor messaging for different audiences, including Potential Investors (that range from the general public all the way to sophisticated institutional investors), Advisor Community, and others.
  • Be able to effectively communicate and distill advanced industry concepts into content that is appropriate for our various target audiences and stakeholders. For example, we have a range of potential and current investors from those that are brand-new to investing and real estate to those that have significant experience and are very sophisticated in the field.
  • Simultaneously manage multiple projects with short deadlines.
  • Produce consistent and error-free content that adheres to the company #39;s high standards.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 5-10 years #39; experience in writing strong content and thought leadership in the fields of real estate, finance and investing.
  • Degree in communications, journalism, or relevant field.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with senior executives and creating content that is meaningful for various audiences with different levels of expertise.
  • Ability to effectively tailor messages to diverse target markets.
  • Solid understanding of online copywriting and how it impacts search engine optimization.
  • Outstanding communication and relationship management skills - operates with tact, diplomacy, and integrity.
  • Anticipatory, proactive, and responsive – thinks ahead and plans accordingly with minimal guidance.
  • Strong work ethic and team player – trustworthy, capable, and reliable.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced growth environment.
