Position Summary:Responsible to work as a team member to deliver on their departmental IT Services as per the IT Service Catalogue.Responsible for maintaining LAN and WAN with regards to the integrity of all Server application. Installs and configures PC computer equipment, installs PC applications software, obtains contract PC application software, training and resolves help desk issues.Core Duties - Responsibilities:Administration of the LAN/WANCoordinates and maintains server level operations relating to hardware, software, security and communications for LAN and WAN environmentsIdentifies, detects and solves related problemsProvides first level helpdesk support to all usersMaintains LAN/WAN and desktop-based ApplicationsCoordinates LAN/WAN downtime strategiesCoordinates LAN/WAN based projects as requiredAssists in the development of security for LAN/WAN strategiesProvides LAN/WAN status reports when necessaryInstallation of PC Hardware and SoftwareInstalls, configures and refreshes PC computer equipment, applications softwareOther Related ActivitiesMaintains inventory of hardware/software documentation and inventoryProvides recommendations as required to LAN/WAN, Software, Hardware enhancement and optimizationProvides backup support for Patient Information Systems Administrator and the Information Systems AdministratorProvides staff with training and orientation to system hardware and softwareDevelops and maintains relevant procedure and technical manualsTelecommunication support for internal phone system, cell phones, PDA devices and other telecom electronic devices when and where applicableProvides facilities support with respect to Facilities Help Desk with requests such as but not limited to: employee concerns regarding temperature fluctuations, workstation concerns etc.Liaisons with external contract vendors on any facilities/IT work or repairsLeads and/or participates in and demonstrates an understanding of quality, risk and patient safety principles and practicesFollows all safe work practices and procedures and immediately communicates any activity or action which may constitute a risk to quality, and patient safetyOther IT/Facilities duties as assignedPatient SafetyPromotes patient safety in alignment with the Vision, Mission, Values and Strategic Directions of the HCCSS HNHBWorks within the basic principles of patient safety by doing the right thing for the right patient, using the right method at the right timeAdheres to HCCSS HNHB patient safety policies and proceduresQualifications:2 or 3 year Post Secondary Diploma/Certificate in Computer Systems/Science MCSE Certification an asset2 to 3 years’ experience in the maintenance of LANs/WANs in Microsoft environmentsSkills & Abilities:Analytical, problem solving, decision making, written and oral communication and interpersonal skillsAttention to detailSelf-directed and the ability to work independently and in a team settingCustomer service skillsPatienceMust possess valid driver’s license and own transportationOther:Must possess valid driver’s license and own transportationTravel to remote sites may be required.Starting Rate: $33.16
