Job Description

Job DescriptionThe Utility Distribution Power Line Designer’s mission is to work within a team of designers to design efficient and reliable distribution lines and perform relevant design tasks as required, as part of the Distribution group in our Energy and Resources sector. The Designer will coordinate within activities to maintain project schedules and ensure successful project within budget and client satisfaction. This is a hybrid role that can be based in the Greater Toronto Area or in the province of Ontario ideally in proximity to one of our offices.Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform site visits to determine the nature of work required (poles, conductors, anchors, equipment condition assessment)
  • Utilize GIS data to design overheadamp; underground distribution networks
  • Research land ownership; make easement applications
  • Prepare construction drawings for proposed distribution systems (OH and UG)
  • Produce job estimates, bills of material, labouramp; enter material acquisition requests
  • Circulate proposed plans for review and comment by utility and city stakeholders
  • Complete applications for all applicable municipality construction permits
  • Coordinate project schedules with utilities and contractors
  • Design and/or verification of third-party attachments on utility poles and obtain approvals
  • Interact with internal / external contacts as necessary for design details
  • Produce regular project status update reports
  • Review of designs in order to ensure accuracy, perform quality control and quality checks prior to project release
  • Ensure completed work adheres to engineering and construction standards and Ontario Regulation 22/04
  • Prepare as-built construction drawings
