C ommuni ty S upport Work e r (Burnab y, B C)Burnaby Association for Community InclusionThe Burnaby Association for Community Inclusion (BACI) is a community living organization that supports people with developmental disabilities across their life span to live a good life. Our Community Inclusion (Day Program) is looking for a Community Support Worker to support people to pursue activities in the community based on their individual interests, gifts, and defined goals. This role supports people to become active members of the community discovering and engaging with places of belonging.Full-Time, Part-Time, and Casual Positions AvailableResponsibilities:

  • Supporting people in one to one and or group settings.
  • Ensuring that individuals are connected to friends and family.
  • Providing individuals with the opportunity to make meaningful choices.
  • Encouraging and recognizing individuals contributions.
  • Ensuring that individuals are safe and promoting their health and well-being.
  • Assisting individuals to gain knowledge and experiences to enhance their independence and/or ability to participate in their community.
Qualifications:
  • The ability to work effectively both as a team member and independently is essential.
  • Experience and specialized training related to autism and/or challenging behaviors is an asset.
  • Knowledge and ability to use alternative communication systems would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of the principles of Person-Centered Thinking and Planning preferred.
  • Working knowledge of computers/mobile apps is necessary.
