The Corporate Controllers is responsible for the preparation of the consolidated financial statements, month-end close cycles, and corporate accounting functions housed at head office.In this role you’ll:Manage a team of 5 including 2 direct reports and 3 indirect reports with an emphasis on providing coaching, direction, and guidance to ensure high performing and engaged team members. Help drive resolution of issues on a timely basis.Make decisions over the accounting treatments applied in financial reporting and apply judgment to raise significant matters to discuss with the Director, Corporate Reporting.Responsible for the financial statement preparation in accordance with US GAAP on a quarterly basis, which includes leading a team to ensure timely, accurate, and complete reporting of the Company’s 10-K, 10-Q and other external financial reporting documents that need to be filed.Lead the corporate accounting teams that provide global accounting for share based payments, leases, fixed assets, intangibles, goodwill, and all other financial statement line items (both on the balance sheet and income statement)Perform a detailed review of high risk accounting transactions, balances, and other key spreadsheets to ensure that SOX controls are operating effectively, this includes a detailed review of the Company’s cash flow statement and areas that involve significant accounting estimates, provisions and judgement.Lead and support on occasion researching technical and complex accounting topics (including new policies & new standards) with an ability to make quick decisions that rely heavily on professional judgment and a high degree of impact to the organizationIdentify accounting and technical reporting matters which are to be communicated and discussed with the Director, Corporate Reporting to drive resolutionLead the quarterly balance sheet reviews for all regions within the organization, which includes analysis of fluctuations period over period, investigation into unusual movements and accounts, and corresponding directly with the regional controllers to resolve issues.Communicate directly with and present to senior leadership teams with an ability to simplify complex topics and communicate in a succinct mannerSupport the Director, Corporate Reporting in managing both internal and external auditsLead the corporate accounting teams SOX control environment ensuring an effective environment over the internal controls over financial reporting. This includes accountability for continuously assessing risks relating to financial reporting and ensuring the appropriate internal controls are implemented, designed and operating effectivelyContinuously drive efficiencies in accounting process to take time out of the close cycle including automated solutions where appropriatePartner with business leaders to drive business improvements, deliver management reporting, and support decision making. Key partnerships include Global IT department, Properties department and Treasury and Tax departmentsDirect and coordinate financial planning and budget management functions for key areas of the business including HQ SG&A, capital spend, depreciation and amortization and other incomeActively support the RB Unreserved Commitment to Safety: to send everyone home, every day, the way they came to work, by taking personal responsibility for your safety and safety of your team, co-workers and customers.Here’s what you bring:CPA, CA/CMA/CGA or foreign equivalent with 8-10+ years of post-designation experience8+ years of progressive experience in senior level accounting & finance roles with increasing levels of progressive responsibility and complexityBig 4 Accounting Firm experience highly desiredDirect management of a team of 5+ professionalsExperience in a mid to large, publicly traded, complex organizationDemonstrated knowledge of US GAAP, systems, risks and controlsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent written and verbal communication and presentation skillsSelf-starter who is adaptable, proactive, collaborative and displays initiative and sound judgmentThis role will require you to:Be Responsible for the monthly-close and quarterly preparation of external financial statementsManage the corporate accounting functions to ensure process improvements and compliance with US GAAPLead a team, support their development and growth and promote a culture of collaboration, success, and continuously strive to be a world-class corporate reporting teamBe responsible for a successful corporate reporting SOX environmentBusiness partner to support key business decision makingPlay a key role to determine the structure and content of financial policies and proceduresDetermine the ongoing accounting and technical subject matter and delivery of training as neededDetermine if the external reporting requirements are being adequately metProvide technical accounting analysis and recommendations on structure of contracts, treasury deals and special projectsRespond to ad hoc financial reporting and accounting queriesDrive the implementation of new or amended accounting standards and proceduresWork with the team to solve accounting issues and make decisions based on a materiality and risk based approachGain agreement/consensus amongst various team members and stakeholdersWhat We Offer:Our success is built on the drive and dedication of our people.
