Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and patient Direct Support Worker to provide care for children. The role involves supporting parents by preparing meals, maintaining hygiene, monitoring health, behavior, and emotions, offering age-appropriate education, and collaborating with parents to foster positive learning and socialization experiences for the children. Responsibilities also include ensuring a safe, engaging, and clean environment. Location: Burnaby, center-basedSchedule:Friday, 10:30AM - 6:30PMSaturday, 10AM - 5PMTake an inside look at what you will do each day:

  • Caring for children with ASD (age 10-15 years old) by establishing schedules and routines, grooming, feeding, and other self-care support.
  • Ensuring a safe environment by monitoring children for health, behavioral, and emotional concerns, and reporting them to staff and parents.
  • Collaborating with parents to help children achieve educational and behavioral goals.
Here is what you will need to be successful:
  • Experience with children (ECE Diploma or the equivalent is ideal but not required)
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada
  • Patience, decisiveness, and stamina for activities such as chasing after, lifting, or carrying children. Attentiveness to children #39;s needs and safety.
  • Able to undergo Vulnerable Sector Checks
  • Excellent communication, teaching, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong understanding of childhood development stages.
