Engineers and Geoscientists BC’s Professional Practice, Standards and Development Department is hiring an engineering/geoscience student on contract for four months starting in May 2025. Reporting to the Manager, Climate Change and Sustainability Initiatives, this position will provide strategic support for the development of a sustainability program to be administered to over 5000 firm registrants located throughout BC. The intern will work closely with the Climate Strategist and other Engineers and Geoscientists BC staff, registrants, and partners to support the development of the program through engagement and consultation. The intern position would also provide support to a Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) funded project, to develop a course advancing a Climate Resiliency Training Program for Building Sector Professionals, in collaboration with the Climate Risk Institute (CRI). This position will also provide support to the preparation and delivery of Engineers and Geoscientists BC’s climate change-related professional practice resources and continuing education events.The intern hired through this opportunity would participate in the Climate Change and Sustainability Advisory Group meetings, and the CRI Course Steering Committee, and benefit from learning about steering complex projects and initiatives through collective decision-making. The intern will work with the staff in organizing events and various engagement sessions in relation to this project. The intern will work in a hybrid work environment and will be exposed to the regulatory functions carried out by Engineers and Geoscientists BC. The intern will be required to engage in creative and critical thinking, technical analysis, and strategic problem-solving.
