Job Description

BCIT’s Physics Department invites applications for a regular, part time (0.5 FTE) Technician III position. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and setting up physics apparatus for classroom demonstrations and laboratories. Although preference will be given to candidates with a mechanical background, experience maintaining and repairing electronics would be an asset.Duties & ResponsibilitiesDUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Set up of apparatus for laboratory experiments and classroom demonstrations;
  • Mechanical equipment repairs;
  • General maintenance of mechanical and electronic lab equipment;
  • Working constructively with instructional faculty and other lab technicians to ensure the laboratories are safe and prepared for educational activities.
QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS:
  • 2 year Diploma of Mechanical Technology or equivalent
  • Four years industrial or educational experience
  • Experience and training in mechanical design and manufacturing
  • Experience with development of post-secondary laboratory exercises preferred
  • Computer proficiency
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated success working both independently and in a team environment

Salary Range Salary Range: $59,609 - $71,086 per annumAdditional Salary InformationSalary prorated based on percentage and term of appointment.
