In service to SFU’s international engagement, we are a strong and collaborative team of about a dozen professionals committed to:

  • facilitate international strategic direction and engagement in support of institutional priorities;
  • build, maintain and continually improve institutional partnerships, opportunities, and modalities; and
  • provide service, support, tools and skill enhancement for faculties and units.
What Your Impact Will BeThe Manager, Global Engagement is responsible for projects and programming related to SFU International’s key initiatives in sustainability and global development.Reporting to the Director, Global Engagement the Manager works closely with representatives of the Vice Presidents’ and Deans’ offices, SFU Sustainability, Government Relations, Advancement and Alumni Relations, and SFU Faculties and units to promote and optimize global engagement. This temporary position has been developed with a focus on the following enhancing the programs and services in support of these key initiatives:
  • Coordinate SFU International’s multi-pronged and urgent response to supporting students and scholars impacted by geopolitical conflict;
  • Manage programs related student and scholar facing activities and reporting;
  • Develop partnerships and liaise with funders, government, NGO’s, private sector and community partners;
  • Facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration across departments and with faculty involvement in mobilized scholars and research;
  • Monitor program budgets and financial transactions
  • Make recommendations for systems and supports to improve program delivery, and,
  • With the Executive Director and Director, support the development of institution-wide activities related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree and four years of directly related experience, which includes experience in the management and administration of post-secondary international partnerships, protocol and initiatives, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Good knowledge of international issues and practices.
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills including financial administrative skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communications (oral and written) skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of cross-cultural issues.
  • Ability to develop effective communications and social media content.
  • Ability to establish priorities and to accomplish objectives.
  • Ability to sensitively interact with individuals from diverse cultural groups as well as individuals at all institutional or governmental levels.
  • Ability to use word processing, database, and spreadsheet software applications.
