Job Description

Union/Affiliation:Administrative and Professional Staff (APSA)Pay range:$64,973.00 to $77,589.00 annuallySFU Department Descr:Student Services - Student SupportPosition Grade:8# of openings:1Biweekly Hours:72The Manager, Office of the Vice Provost, Students & International manages the administrative, operational, and project support functions for the Office of the Vice-Provost, Students & International (VPSI). The Manager supports the Office by managing projects, committees, programs, services and administering University policy and procedures. The role provides administrative and workflow organization and support to the Vice Provost, Students & International; the Senior Director; and the Director, Administration in the Office of the VPSI and their project teams. This role manages the administrative operations for the Office of the VPSI by coordinating service-wide events and programs, managing and supervising support staff, and managing the annual operating budget for the Office.Qualifications:Bachelors degree in Arts, Business Administration, or Education and a minimum of five years of related experience preferably providing senior leadership support and/or working within student services, financial management, personnel/staffing or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Strong knowledge of post-secondary policies and procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication (oral, written) skills.
  • Excellent analytical reasoning, problem-solving, and conflict management skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion, maintain strict confidentiality and exercise initiative, diplomacy, tact and judgment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion and demonstrated ability to work alongside equity-seeking groups.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, strong organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Good budget planning and financial management skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, and collaborate with others to achieve project objectives.
  • Proficient in the use of standard office applications and enterprise level information systems. (e.g., MS Office, PeopleSoft).
