Job Description

As such, we welcome talented individuals that have a variety of perspectives, backgrounds, and industry experience who will contribute to the success of our One Parkland team.Position Title: Manager, ReliabilityTeam and Location: Parkland Refinery - Burnaby, BCPosition Summary:The Reliability Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and leading strategies to improve the overall reliability of the refinery. This role provides overall leadership and direction to the reliability group and seeks to understand the causes of equipment failures and the required actions to resolve.Key Responsibilities:

  • Adopt and implement industry best practices related to reliability and ensure the strategy is properly executed. Implement organizational structure, systems, tools and technologies that promote a proactive approach to maintenance.
  • Foster a culture that does not tolerate equipment failures and seeks to understand and eliminate the causes using Root Cause Analysis (RCA). Implement Defect Elimination program.
  • Implement and track Reliability KPIs such as MTBF and MTTR.
  • Oversee the analysis of operational data and equipment performance history to reduce and eliminate unplanned equipment failures.
  • Manage reliability-related communications and best practice sharing.
  • Implement periodic audits and self-assessments to identify opportunities for Reliability process improvement.
  • Ensure adequate team support to capital projects to ensure Design for Reliability principles are utilized and new projects are reliable once commissioned.
  • Act as advisor for the Parkland Refinery Integrated Maintenance Excellence (PRIME) program. Identify gaps in current program with industry best practice and develop and implement actions to close those gaps.
  • Evaluate current Reliability Centered Maintenance program against industry best practices and seek to optimize and improve, including evaluating new software/analytic tools.
  • Implement critical spare management program using industry best practices as a guide.
  • Evaluate current PM optimization program and seek to optimize and improve.
  • Provide oversight to Reliability Risk ranking, steward mitigation of high-risk items and prioritization with cross functional managers.
  • Stewardship of the Reliability Steering Board, facilitate monthly RSB meeting and communicate major issues as required.
  • Revamp Reliability Engineer Roles and Responsibilities to accommodate newly adopted industry best practice and/or modified processes.
  • Manage the reliability team by providing guidance, coaching and development. This includes performance conversations, succession planning, and providing appropriate training and development opportunities.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Professional Engineering Degree.
  • Currently registered or eligible for registration with EGBC.
  • 15 years of experience with at least 5 or more years of industrial experience in operations, maintenance, or reliability role is preferred.
  • Certification in CMRP or CRL is desired.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities in progressively senior supervisor roles.
  • Organizational, written and verbal communications skills.
  • Exceptionally strong drive and initiative to make substantial culture changes.
