If you have a passion for excellence, and would like to work for Corus Entertainment, we encourage you to apply.About the Role:Global BC is looking for a Permanent, Full-time Reporter to join the #1 newsroom in Western Canada. This position is part of the Global News team reporting to the Managing Editor, Global BC.This is a Group 4 position under the current collective agreement.Responsibilities:Report 5 days a week for Global BC, BC1, and CKNW 980 radio;General assignment reporting, segment producing and live hits as required;Initiate and monitor story development, and maintain quality of production;Monitor all news sources, including feeds, wires and social media;Chase breaking news stories - including coordination of live coverage and setting up interviews for broadcast; facilitating pictures and video for online coverage;Communicate breaking or changing news situations with online and other show producers and anchors;Source stories from Indigenous and diverse communities;This position will contribute content for Global BC website;This position may require anchor duties for Global BC, BC1, and CKNW broadcasts when required;Position will require work on regular weekends and may involve a variety of shifts including early mornings and evenings.About YouWhat We Need From You:Degree or diploma in Broadcast Journalism from a recognized institution;At least 5 years' experience reporting;Experience reporting live breaking news and performing live hits as a reporter and/or anchor;Proven ability to write accurate, concise, creative broadcast copy and put together news line ups;Experience meeting multiple deadlines for broadcast and online;Ability to develop sources, contacts and research original stories for television, radio, and online;Demonstrated experience in telling stories from a diverse lens;Extensive knowledge and contacts in Metro Vancouver’s diverse communities;Willingness to adapt to rapidly changing technology and new online skills in a multi-faceted digital news operation;Should be familiar with current state of online news reporting and publishing;Familiarity and ease in using social media;Must have excellent people skills with the ability to work independently, effectively and cooperatively in a team environment;A valid driver’s license and vehicle;Represent the company at various community and charity events.Deadline for applications June 25, 2021Why CorusCorus is a driving force in the media industry with a diverse portfolio of strong brands that entertain and inform audiences through great storytelling and compelling content, reaching millions of people around the world every day.We have a passionate drive to connect with the world around us: to express, to share, to be part of people's lives.
