Strata Engineering is a fast-growing, multi-disciplinary engineering firm based in Burnaby, BC. With a dedicated team of over 20 employees and a strong reputation within the industry, we are looking for a new Senior Technologist who will be responsible for leading junior employees and working directly with a Senior Engineer. We offer competitive compensation with full health benefits, professional development, and advancement in our organization.In your role as the Senior Technologist, you will be reporting to a senior engineer/engineering team leader. You will be performing building envelope condition assessments, engineering investigations, preparing specifications, and rehabilitation designs. You will also be involved in the mentoring of junior staff.Applicant Qualities:

Skills and Competencies:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in building envelope design.
• Understanding of building envelope design, residential, commercial, and institutional building design, and construction.
• Knowledge of BC Building Code (Parts 3,5, and 9).
• Knowledge of municipal requirements for permit applications.
• Well-versed in drafting using AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, etc.
• Experience in fieldwork and site inspections is mandatory.
• Experience in the preparation of specifications and designs.
• Experience with structural design is a plus.

Professional Qualifications:

• Graduation from DipT, B.Arch, or similar programs.
• Specialized training in drafting/AutoCAD certification is preferred but not mandatory.
• Certification as AScT, B. Arch, C.Tech (is desired).

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Inspections and field reviews.
• Report preparation.
• Preparation of specifications.
• Design and drafting.
• Building envelope investigation and assessment reports.
• Administration and organization.
• Communication with municipal governments and clients.
• Field work such as window testing, flood testing, etc.

Other Requirements:

• Must have own vehicle with a safe driving record.
• Must be able to pass stringent background checks required by some clients.
