If you have a passion for excellence, and would like to work for Corus Entertainment, we encourage you to apply.About the Role:Global BC is looking for a Part-Time Sports Reporter/Anchor to join the #1 newsroom in Western Canada. Reporting to the News Director and Station Manager, this position will include various shifts including weekends, early mornings, or late evenings.This is a Group 4 position under the current collective agreement.Responsibilities:

  • Anchoring, writing, producing, and editing sportscasts for Global BC and BC 1, when needed;
  • Reporting and live hits as required;
  • Initiate and monitor story development, and maintain quality of production;
  • Monitor all sports sources, including feeds, wires and social media;
  • This position will contribute content for Global BC website.
What We Need From You:
  • Degree or diploma in Broadcast Journalism from a recognized institution;
  • At least 5 years experience in editing, writing, and anchoring sports segments in a major market;
  • Knowledge and experience working with Edius and Stratus editing system;
  • Experience anchoring live breaking news and performing live hits as a reporter and/or anchor;
  • Proven ability to write accurate, concise, creative broadcast copy and put together sports line ups;
  • Experience meeting multiple deadlines for broadcast and online;
  • Ability to develop sources, contacts and research original stories for television, radio, and online;
  • Demonstrated experience in telling stories from an inclusive lens;
  • Extensive knowledge of sports beyond the major professional sports, including amateur and women’s sports;
  • Willingness to adapt to rapidly changing technology and new online skills in a multi-faceted digital news operation;
  • Must have excellent people skills with the ability to work independently, effectively and cooperatively in a team environment;
  • A valid driver’s license and vehicle.
