Job Description

We currently have a opportunity for a 1.0 Permanent Special Needs Educational Assistant (EA) (Level 3)

  • Supporting students with special needs including physical and development needs (e.g. ASD, DD, CP, Down Syndrome). Special needs students may also require support with behavioural needs. Duties may include toileting, lifting, transferring, feeding, dressing and personal hygiene.
  • All EA assignments are Level 3 unless otherwise noted.
LTOs $24.67 per hour (plus vacation pay) and benefits for LTOs over four (4) months (starting from the beginning of the LTO)The Board shall undertake to hire Employees with appropriate post-secondary education and directly related experience. Suggested appropriate qualifications include:
  • Autism and Behavioural Science
  • Behavioral Science Technology
  • Child and Youth Worker / Child and Youth Care
  • Community and Justice
  • Corrections Worker
  • Developmental Disabilities Worker
  • Development Service Worker
  • Educational Assistant / Educational Support
  • Early Childhood Education (with special needs experience)
  • Intervenor for Deaf-Blind Persons
  • Post-ECE Advanced Studies in Special Needs
  • Bachelor of Arts - Child and Youth Care
  • Bachelor of Arts - Psychology
  • Bachelor of Arts - Sociology
  • Bachelor of Arts - Exceptionality in Human Learning
  • Bachelor of Social Work
  • Registered Nurse
  • Registered Practical Nurse
  • Social Service Worker (Gerontology and Immigrants and Refugees specializations not applicable)
  • Ontario College of Teachers Certification with minimum Additional Qualification (AQ) in Spec. Ed. Part 1

Candidates must also be able to perform the essential physical duties of the position to support our children with special needs, which may include toileting, lifting, transferring and personal care.
