Job Description

DescriptionThe OpportunityReporting directly to the Supervisor, Community Programs, this role is responsible for effectively coordinating, administering and supervising various aquatics and leadership programs and related initiatives. This role is also responsible for promoting access and equitable processes for residents and ensuring customer satisfaction and safety town wide. As the Coordinator, Aquatics, you will perform the following duties, including but not limited to:

  • Analyze and assess aquatic program requirements and present recommendations for service improvements and efficiency
  • Recruitment, training and evaluation of full time, contract, volunteer and part time staff; provide coaching for improved performance; develop goals, objectives and workplans; and conducts annual performance appraisals
  • Ensures positive relationships between staff and citizens; deals with issues and works closely with Supervisor on escalated issues
  • Prepare various recreation budgets in consultation with the Supervisor, Community Programs
  • Maintain responsibility for assigned duties within the Department and Division work plans
COVID-19: The successful candidate for Coordinator, Aquatics will be required to work a flexible schedule, including in the office, remotely and after hours (as required).The Ideal CandidateWe are seeking a passionate professional with a post-secondary degree or diploma in Recreation Studies or closely related field. Our ideal candidate has a minimum of 4 years related experience in a recreation setting including direct programming and supervisory experience.We are seeking an individual with certification(s) in Standard First Aid, Swim and Lifesaving Society Instructor, and National Lifeguard Society (pool option). Two of the following certifications: Standard First Aid Instructor/Examiner, NL Instructor/Examiner or Swim/Lifesaving Instructor Trainer. In addition, certification(s) in Aquafit, Certified Pool Operator, and completion of Aquatic Supervisory Training is considered an asset.The ideal candidate will be proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and knowledge of Perfect Mind software. We are seeking an individual with demonstrated customer service excellence, demonstrated ability to adapt, excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.This position offers a salary range of $71,552.88 - $84,616.97, plus a competitive benefit package. Satisfactory passing of a vulnerable sector check, and proof of qualifications will be required of any successful candidate(s) for this position.
