DescriptionThe OpportunityReporting directly to the Manager, Finance/Deputy Treasurer this role is responsible for the processing of all invoices received for payment, and for providing administrative support to the Division. As a Finance Clerk, you will perform the following duties, including but not limited to:Receive and process approximately 400 accounts payable invoices a weekVerify extensions, sales tax, purchase orders, packing slips, and departmental approval, prior to the release of invoices for payment; reconcile posted accounts to the Payable Distribution Journals/or equivalent report prior to the issuance of cheques/electronic fund transfersObtain additional approvals and signatures for all accounts payable cheques/electronic funds transfers in excess of established limitsMaintain accounts payable documentation filesCOVID-19: In consideration of the current pandemic and Public Health orders, the Town of Caledon is providing limited in-person services as Town Hall is open to the public by appointment only. The successful candidate for Finance Clerk will be required to work in the office, as well as some remote work and after hours (as required).The Ideal CandidateWe are seeking an enthusiastic professional with education, training and/or knowledge in the above, normally acquired from a post-secondary diploma in Accounting or closely related field. The candidate must have minimum certification in Accounting and 1 - 3 years related experience in accounting, preferably in a municipal setting. The candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain, clarify and persuade to gain approval. Our ideal candidate demonstrates the ability to exercise significant discretion and sensitivity involving regular access to confidential data.The ideal candidate will be proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and demonstrates organizational skills with considerable attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
