At Lafarge Canada Inc., safety comes first, collaboration matters and diversity is celebrated with people who share our desire to continually make our materials better.Do you have the drive, the skills, and the passion to join usOverview:As a member of the Caledon site team, the Primary Plant Operator position will execute the daily tasks of maintaining and operating an aggregate processing plant in accordance with Lafarge’s best practices and policies as well as perform all administration related to the equipment’s operation.Responsibilities:Operations

  • Daily operations of a stationary crushing plant. Meeting safety and production targets
Safety
  • Promote safety culture through engagement with employees, Joint Health and Safety Coordinators, subcontractors and suppliers, implementation and maintenance of local and regional initiatives with an objective of “zero” safety incidents. Promotes safety policies, processes and review procedures to ensure that site meets or exceeds all Lafarge and Regulatory guidelines. Ensure that the plant and surrounding site is kept safe, presentable, and functional
Equipment
  • Ensure assigned equipment is operated to original equipment manufacturer guidelines and industry best practices.
Plant Maintenance
  • Ensure daily, weekly, monthly, and annual inspections regarding preventative maintenance actions are scheduled and completed.
Other
  • Perform other duties as assigned to assist in the efficient operation of the plant and site.
This position is for day shift (Approximately 10:00 am to 8:30 pm) Monday to Friday, with optional Saturday’s.Relationships with Others Jobs
  • Reports to the Plant Foreman
  • This position requires extensive liaison with the mobile equipment operators, and wash plant operators.
Qualifications:Education & Work Experience:
  • Canadian secondary school diploma or equivalent
  • Industrial plant operation experience an asset
  • Heavy equipment operation experience an asset
Knowledge & Skills:
  • First aid, WHMIS, Surface Miner training, confined space training, working-at-heights training
  • Specific mobile equipment training
  • Mechanical aptitude / extensive manual labor tasks
  • Computer literacy an asset
