Job Description

LPN Job Posting- Full Time/Part Time/CasualNorth Queens Nursing Home is currently accepting applications for one Permanent Full time LPN position.The Licensed Practical Nurse will provide care for residents at North Queens Nursing Home, including, but not limited to; medication administration, health assessment, leadership/charge duties, nursing planning and intervention, collaborating with the interdisciplinary team, personal care, assistance with activities of daily living, assistance with meals, mobilization, support for those living with dementia and/or mental illness, documentation and all other duties as outlined in the LPN job description. The LPN will demonstrate professionalism and respect and adhere to North Queens Nursing Home policies and procedures. Qualifications:

  • Graduate of a recognized LPN program
  • Maintains ongoing active practicing licensure with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Nova Scotia (CLPNNS)
  • Experience and interest working with the elderly and commitment to resident centred care philosophy
  • Physically able to perform the duties of the position as outlined in the LPN functional job analysis for North Queens Nursing Home
  • Ability to do shift work including 12, 8, and 4 hour shifts on days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays
  • Alzheimers and Related Dementia Care course and or Gentle Persuasive Approach course
  • Current first aid and CPR or willingness to obtain
  • Capabilities to work with with agitated, confused, aggressive or hostile behaviour of residents. Ability to work in an environment with resident cats and therapy dogs/ other pets and exposure to medications, contaminated equipment, and chemicals.
  • Excellent communication skills with residents, families and other team members. Ability and confidence to take a leadership role
  • Demonstrated competency using computers including internet, email and Microsoft office
  • Regular attendance in current and previous employment
