Job Description

Phasor Engineering is a dynamic North America based company specializing in engineering, design, panel fabrication, and testing/commissioning of high voltage electrical facilities. Our focus is to incorporate the latest technological advances to provide the most cost-effective and efficient solutions to power system engineering. This focus allows us to be involved in a diverse range of projects from conceptual engineering through to commissioning and startup. We are currently seeking a highly motivated Buyer – Electrical Utilities to join our team on a full-time basis in our Calgary, AB, office. Position Overview: The Buyer will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing materials, equipment, and services specific to electrical utility operations. This includes managing vendor relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring timely delivery. The ideal candidate will have experience in sourcing electrical components, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring timely delivery of materials to support panel assembly and production.Key Responsibilities:

  • Source, negotiate, and procure materials and equipment such as transformers, switchgear, conductors, and related electrical components.
  • Issue purchase orders, track delivery schedules, and coordinate with project management team.
  • Develop and maintain supplier relationships to ensure quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Analyze market trends and supplier performance to inform purchasing strategies.
  • Collaborate with engineering and panel shop teams to understand project requirements and BOMs.
  • Collaborate with engineering, construction, and operations teams to forecast needs and align procurement with project timelines.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain accurate purchase records, contracts, and documentation in ERP systems.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor #39;s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of purchasing or procurement experience, preferably in the electrical utilities or energy sector.
  • Knowledge of electrical components, wiring devices, and control systems preferred.
  • Experience supporting panel shops or similar fabrication environments is a strong asset.
  • Strong understanding of utility-grade electrical equipment and materials.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Preferred:
  • Experience with public utility procurement regulations.
  • Certification such as CPM, CPSM, or equivalent.
