Job Description

PHASOR Engineering Inc. is a dynamic Alberta based company specializing in engineering, design, and testing / commissioning of medium to high voltage electrical facilities. Focused on providing the most cost-effective and efficient solutions to power system engineering, we are involved in a diverse range of projects from preliminary engineering through to the commissioning and startup.We are seeking a Project Engineer/Estimator will be responsible for leading Utility-scale HV/MV Substation/Transmission/Distribution Engineering estimates, including self-perform and subcontracted scopes of work. This candidate will work closely with the Preconstruction Team, Project Managers, Purchasing, and Engineering. In addition to working cross-functionally with internal teams, you will also develop and maintain relationships with material vendors and subcontractors/partners.Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reviewing and understanding of the Design Basis, Engineering Design Documents, and Basis of Estimate.
  • Develop concept SLD, layouts and BOM’s as required to support estimates.
  • Develop detailed list of engineering deliverables (drawings, studies, specifications)
  • Develop detailed engineering schedule based on input from internal engineering and project management.
  • Coordinate between multiple disciplines for pricing and schedule development.
  • Developing a detailed list of assumptions in conjunction with estimate, schedule and form of proposal documents.
  • Assemble estimates from various sources into a complete and final estimate for the company with Engineering support as required.
  • Conduct comprehensive reviews of project specifications, drawings, and other relevant documents to identify key project elements.
  • Utilize industry-standard estimating software and methodologies to prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates.
  • Review and validate outsourced estimates with support from engineer.
  • Analyze project components, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs, to develop comprehensive project budgets.
  • Develops complete estimates on selected projects consisting of project site visit, quantity take-off, pricing, and presentation of the estimate for cost engineering and management review.
  • Provide estimating input on complexquot;conceptual quot; transmission projects.
  • Attend and assist in project planning sessions and team meetings to provide estimating input.
  • Interface and communicate effectively (written and oral) with the engineering team, with all levels of management, clients and industry contacts; contacts and develops business relationships with subcontractors and suppliers for pricing within estimates.
  • Develop or assist in the development of general and project specific plans for execution, sequencing, and logistics;
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor #39;s direction.
Knowledge/ Skills:
  • Experience in estimating, cost control, project management, and/or engineering with estimating experience in projects ranging from $0.5M to $25M.
  • Understanding of construction documents and the ability to assess the level of completeness.
  • Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in electrical estimating, with a focus on Transmission, Distribution and Substation design and build
  • Knowledge of power delivery, including substations and transmission lines
  • Knowledge of all engineering scopes, including electrical, mechanical, structural, civil, and permitting compliance
  • Knowledge of shipping and logistics with respect to cost estimating
  • Experience with Engineer, Procure, Construct (EPC) estimates.
  • Experience with MS Office
Education:
  • B.Sc. degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technologist, Bachelor of Commerce Degree (BCom), Construction Management Certificate, or equivalent combination of relevant experience and education
