Blackline Safety is a publicly traded company (TSX: BLN).General Description:Blackline Safety is looking for a Financial Accountant to join the Accounting and Finance team to assist with the management of the rapid growth of the company and is one where a motivated and talented individual can join a developing team in a fast-paced and fluid environment. The position is a full-time with an optional hybrid schedule based at our Company’s head office in Ramsay, Calgary. Reporting directly to the Director of Financial and Sustainability Reporting, with daily interaction with the Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Accountingamp; Finance and Corporate Controller, the Financial Accountant will be responsible for operational accounting and financial reporting tasks for the Company, including the following key responsibilities:

  • Have a key role in the preparation of the external reporting package, including the quarterly and annual financial statements and management discussion and analysis.
  • Assist in the preparation of the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) annual report, including the research of developing climate standards and related calculations.
  • Collaborate with the team in ad-hoc projects, including the automation and streamlining of various processes to improve the reporting timeline and process improvement.
  • Prepare, and review other team members’, routine general ledger entries as needed and monthly and quarterly reconciliations, including investigating and reporting on variances to expectation analysis.
  • Prepare various corporate accounting reports, analysis and KPIs for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Liaise with the external auditors and manage the quarterly reviews and annual audit process.
  • Prepare technical accounting memorandums on complex accounting topics.
  • Assist in maintaining the internal control processes related to assigned areas for the financial books and records of the Company.
  • Be a key and an active member of the Finance team; willing to mentor and coach peers, work collaboratively, brainstorm issues, complete ad-hoc requests and be flexible in completing any task.
Qualifications:
  • Completion of a post-secondary degree in Commerce, Accounting or Business Administration. Preference will be given to candidates with a professional accounting CPA designation or enrolled in the program.
  • Minimum of 2+ years experience in a similar role, preferably in a public mid-sized manufacturing/technology environment.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic, entrepreneurial and fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to work independently with excellent organization skills in assuming responsibility for managing multiple priorities.
  • Positive attitude and enthusiasm with a focus on providing useful information to make good business decisions in a supportive environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze business results, identify and clearly summarize key issues.
  • Excellent computer skills, including experience in MS Excel and MS Word applications, with a willingness to develop a full working knowledge of the Company’s NetSuite ERP system.
