Job Description

Job DescriptionCarpenterThe Carpenter at Fairmont Palliser is responsible for constructing, repairing, and maintaining wooden structures, fixtures, and furniture within the hotel. This role ensures that all woodwork-related tasks meet safety standards and contribute to the hotel #39;s aesthetic and functional upkeep.

  • Construct, install, and repair wooden fixtures, furniture, doors, windows, floors and other structures to ensure they remain in optimal condition.
  • Build and install frameworks, partitions, drywall, and other wooden structures, as well as perform painting, masonry, wallpaper works, as part of repairs, renovation or new projects.
  • Inspect and assess wooden structures and recommend necessary repairs or replacements.
  • Address issues of broken doors, window frames, or damaged furniture in a timely manner, minimizing downtime and guest disruptions.
  • Repair or replace damaged drywall, trim, paneling, and moldings.
  • Design and build custom woodwork for guest rooms, lobbies, restaurants, and other spaces, ensuring aesthetics align with the hotel’s overall design and branding.
  • Assist with painting, polishing, and finishing wood surfaces as required.
  • Operate power tools, hand tools, and woodworking machinery safely and efficiently.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from hotel guests and staff.
  • Work collaboratively with the engineering and maintenance team to address repair requests.
  • Maintain inventory of carpentry materials and tools, ensuring proper storage and usage.
  • Follow and ensure all safety procedures, building codes and hotel policies while performing tasks.
