Job Description

Job DescriptionAECOM is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern to based in our Calgary, Alberta office. This position is expected to begin in May 2024.We have a significant backlog of major northern mine remediation, water management, solid waste management, remediation and civil design projects that need great team members.The ideal candidate has a can-do attitude and is an enthusiastic, team-oriented professional who is up for working on these fascinating projects. If you are ready for the challenge of working in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment, this is the intern or co-op opportunity for you! The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide engineering services to projects either individually or as part of a project team.
  • Complete office work involving design calculations (e.g. calculating grades, volumes, distances, etc), data input, complete rudimentary analyses using spreadsheets and modeling software, writing emails, technical report writing, regulatory writing, etc.
  • Complete field work involving travel, shift work, and long hours. That work may require you to be in various on-site locations, from a mine remediation in Yukon to a meadow in town. Tasks may include groundwater monitoring, surveying, construction supervision and inspections, and providing daily reports.
  • Support to project managers with project performance, financial tracking, health and safety documentation, and general project coordination.
  • Working with and maintaining a positive relationship with clients, sub-consultants and contractors.
