Concrete Finisher – Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

OverviewDuties and ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Foreman, a Concrete Finisher is responsible for the placement, smoothing, and final finish of poured concrete. A Concrete Finisher will complete tasks such as hand work, troweling, finishing, clearing forms, shovelling, using hand tools, and operating basic equipment.• Check formwork, granular base and steel reinforcement materials and direct placement of concrete into forms or onto surfaces according to grade• Fill hollows and remove high spots to smooth freshly poured concrete• Operate power vibrator to compact concrete• Level top surface of concrete according to grade and depth specifications using straightedge or float• Impart desired finish to concrete surfaces using hand and power tools• Install anchor bolts, steel plates, and other fixtures in freshly poured concrete• Apply hardening and sealing compounds to cure surface of concrete• Waterproof, damp-proof and restore concrete surfaces• Repair, resurface and replace worn or damaged sections of floors, curb and gutter, walls, roads, and other concrete structures• Using a rake or shovel, spread concrete and other construction materials for padding or setting concrete and or structures.• Occasionally direct traffic by placing, removing, covering, and uncovering traffic control signs, cones, barricades, etc.• Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment and movement of materials.• Operate equipment, such as pneumatic hammers, vibrators, tampers, and skid steer as required.Requirements for the Position• Some English• No education is required• 3 years of related experienceWork Conditions and Physical Capabilities• Fast-paced environment• Physically demanding• Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50 lbs. on a regular basis.• Attention to detail• Overtime requiredTerms of EmploymentWage: $32.00/hramp; O/T Earn on average C$6000 + per monthAssistance with accommodation and airfareLocation: Edmonton, Alberta, CanadaContract Duration: initial 3 months (potential for renewal)Hours: Full time, 40 to 70 hours per week, Day, Morning, Weekend, OvertimeVisa not required for certain countries on Canadian government list.Starting date: August 2024Requirements
