We are dedicated to nurturing our employees’ growth and development and providing a supportive environment with a strong emphasis on mentorship and professional development that ensures a rewarding career within our organization.The OpportunityThe Geomatics Engineering Technologist pending workload may work in the field or in the Calgary office under the direction of a Project Manager/Alberta Land Surveyor. The Geomatics Engineering Technologist will work on a wide rand of projects from land development and strata/air space work, topographic and rights-of-way surveys, surveys for infrastructure and capital work projects, construction and monitoring surveys, surveys on First Nation lands and many other diverse types of surveys.Dutiesamp; Responsibilities 

  • Assist the Project Manager with organizing and scheduling for the following days field work.
  • Carry out various types of field surveys that may include legal, topographic, right of ways, construction layout, as built and engineering surveys.
  • Collect data in the field using a variety of tools including data collectors, robotic total stations and GNSS receivers.
  • Aplin Martin is COR certified, candidate will be required to follow guidelines and procedures within the health and safety management system.
  • Provide office support, plan checking and prepare drawings of various types of surveys that include legal, topographic, right of ways, construction layout, as built and engineering surveys.
  • Research land titles, legal survey plans, aerial photographs, satellite images, geographical databases, and other information relevant to planning surveys.
  • Field data processing and survey computations such as legal boundary calculations, network adjustments, and GNSS data processing etc.
  • Using third-party plans, interpret and calculate the layouts of buildings, infrastructure, and other construction.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
Skillsamp; Qualifications
  • Survey Technology Diploma and/or 3 to 5 years #39; experience in municipal survey setting.
  • Ability to work in a variety of outdoor settings and weather conditions.
  • Physically fit and capable of lifting and carrying survey equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of dependability, technical ability and attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of Robotic total stations, latest conventional survey technologies and GNSS solutions.
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil3d and Micro survey.
  • Familiarity with Trimble Survey Equipment and Trimble Business Center is an asset.
  • Occasional overnight travel, with the majority of work occurring in the region.
  • A valid AB driver #39;s license, with excellent driving record. A driver abstract will be required.
