Job Description

Job DescriptionAECOM is seeking an Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer to work in our Calgary office.The successful candidate will join our group of geotechnical engineers in Western Canada and will receive mentorship and training from our experienced team of professional engineers. This is a Full-time role.Key Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Carrying out geotechnical investigations including monitoring drilling of testholes and excavation of testpits, logging soils, collecting soil samples, preparing laboratory work orders and preparing soil logs using gINT.
  • Performing seepage and slope stability analyses using GeoStudio Suite, settlement analyses using Settle 3, and design of foundations for bridges, buildings and other infrastructure.
  • Performing subgrade inspections for foundations and other structures, witnessing proof rolls, instrumentation installation and monitoring, and monitoring installation of piles including driven steel piles and cast-in-place concrete piles.
  • Coordinating with contractors, performing utility locates, obtaining permits required prior to drilling.
  • Preparing safe work plans.
  • Preparing inspection reports and geotechnical reports under the direction and supervision of intermediate to senior geotechnical engineers.
  • Coordinating with Geotechnical Engineers and Project Managers to complete assigned work in a timely and safe manner.
  • Working overtime and weekends as needed.
  • Promoting AECOM’s health and safety culture, client relations, training and mentoring of more junior staff, equipment and resources maintenance and management, and other related duties will be expected.
  • Performing work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.
  • Communicating effectively with others within the team and with internal and external clients.
  • Travelling to work is expected within Western Canada (Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, Northwest Territories, Nunavut and Yukon) and is a requirement for this role.
