With our head office in Calgary, and regional offices in Greater Edmonton, Red Deer and Lethbridge, we have central and southern Alberta covered.We offer work with meaning, incredible opportunities for development, work life balance and opportunities to contribute to your community.Join our team!Reporting to the Director, Lawamp; Corporate Secretary, the Hearing Support Assistant is responsible for managing the documentation required for regulatory facility and regulatory tariff processes, and will work closely with the Regulatory Coordinator, Regulatory Lawyers, and the Director, Lawamp; Corporate Secretary. A knowledge of SharePoint, document controls and document management methods are essential. The incumbent will also be required to provide a broad range of services and should be adaptable and a quick learner.Responsibilities:

  • Under the direction of theRegulatory Coordinator, Regulatory Lawyers , and the Director, Lawamp; Corporate Secretary provide document management and document control for designated regulatory projects, and manage regulatory project schedules, calendars and events.
  • Assist in preparation and amendment of regulatory documents, and in the filing and library maintenance of documents.
  • Assist the Regulatory Coordinator and Regulatory Lawyers with management of the regulatory tariff projects library.
  • Assist the Regulatory Coordinator in providing a technical interface between the facility project teams, tariff project teams, and the AUC.
  • Coordination of pre-hearing, hearing, and post-hearing logistics, and support for facility and tariff project proceedings.
  • Assist with preparation of witnesses, hearing materials, and witness support during hearings.
  • Assist the Regulatory Coordinator and Regulatory Lawyers with research, analysis, and review of legal issues.
  • Attend hearings.
  • Assist other departments with use of regulatory processes and tools.
  • Such other responsibilities as assigned by manager from time to time.
Requirements
  • Requires a minimum of High School Education.
  • Paralegal training or post-secondary degree/diploma in a related, or equivalent discipline; or a minimum 5 years of administrative support experience.
  • Proven ability/experience in above noted responsibilities.
  • 1 year experience in a regulatory and/or legal environment would be an asset.
  • Technical editing skills required. Accurate and detailed editing and proof-reading skills, and affinity for details.
  • Proficiency with the following software programs: Word, Excel, SharePoint, Acrobat and SAP.
  • Proficiency with AUC eFiling considered an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
  • Collaborative and diplomatic personality. Team player is essential.
  • Possess effective time management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure within tight deadlines and limited supervision.
  • Ability to work overtime, and to plan and attend hearings required.
  • Experience in dealing with regulatory applications would be an asset.
  • Understanding of regulatory and/or litigation processes and proceedings considered an asset.
  • Effective communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills to interface with team members and customers to promote positive outcomes.
  • Proven track record of good attendance and job performance.
