This role will partner to build and implement strategies that promote inclusion, representation, and well-being for Indigenous employees. The Indigenous Relations Specialist will be responsible for enhancing the employee experience for Indigenous staff and will support procurement processes and branding efforts to ensure alignment with AECOM’s commitment to Indigenous Relations and PAIR action plans and targets in aligned with the Canadian Council for Indigenous Business.Key Responsibilities: 1. Employmentamp; Recruitment:

  • Assist with the development and implementation of recruitment strategies for Indigenous candidates.
  • Provide guidance to creating an inclusive work environment that fosters the success of Indigenous employees.
  • Work with HR and leadership to ensure equitable employment practices and retention initiatives are in place.
2. Blooming Program:
  • Assist with the development and coordination of AECOM’s Blooming Program, aimed at nurturing career development and leadership opportunities for Indigenous employees.
  • Support Indigenous employees #39; professional growth through mentorship, training, and career advancement programs.
  • Work closely with managers and employees to ensure ongoing support and engagement in the program.
3. Cultural Awareness:
  • Co-create and assist with initiatives to promote cultural awareness and competency across the organization.
  • Organize training and workshops with Indigenous employees and working group on Indigenous cultures, histories, and issues, fostering respect and understanding.
  • Develop materials and resources to support ongoing cultural learning for employees at all levels
4. Indigenous Employee Support Network (IESN):
  • Support the development and growth of the Indigenous Employee Support Network (IESN) to create a safe and inclusive community for Indigenous staff.
  • Chair and coordinate regular meetings, events, and opportunities for networking, mentorship, and peer support.
  • Ensure the network is an effective platform for addressing the unique needs and concerns of Indigenous employees.
5. Marketing and Branding:
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to develop inclusive branding and marketing strategies that represent Indigenous culture and employees.
  • Ensure that all external communications align with AECOM’s commitment to Indigenous Relations and reflect the company #39;s values of respect, equity, and inclusion.
  • Support the creation of materials that showcase the organization #39;s efforts to engage Indigenous communities and employees.
6. Procurement Support:
  • Collaborate with the regional procurement to support processes that align with Indigenous values and priorities.
  • Assist in identifying and building partnerships with Indigenous-owned businesses.
  • Contribute to the development of procurement strategies that reflect the organization’s commitment to sustainability and Indigenous community involvement.
7. Trauma-Informed Engagement:
  • Ensure that all engagement with Indigenous employees is rooted in trauma-informed practices, recognizing the historical and ongoing impacts of colonization and intergenerational trauma.
  • Provide support for employees who may require additional assistance navigating workplace challenges related to their lived experiences.
  • Foster an environment of trust and support, offering resources for mental health and well-being when needed.
