Job Description

Our dynamic environment, filled with high-achieving professionals, enables our staff to take on incredible opportunities, gain mentorship from a diverse group of colleagues, and succeed in their careers.As an Instrumentation Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting Albian Plant Engineering.As part of the Instrumentation Engineering Team, you will be responsible for keeping the reliability of field instrumentation, design and selection of I amp;C equipment for existing plant and field modifications as well as for in-house and sustaining capital projects.The Instrumentation Engineer is responsible for I amp;C engineering deliverables ensuring delivery of projects safely, on schedule and on budget.Champion in-house engineering modification projects by preparing engineering packages, providing input to P amp;ID development, developing control philosophies, shutdown keys, control narratives, I/O lists, instrument indices, instrument selection, instrument datasheets, instrument installation details, Preparing construction work packages for I amp;C and FGS engineering scopes

  • Prepare and manage Management of Change (MOC) requests and subsequent implementation package development and deployment through to closeout. Provide engineering support for construction, commissioning, start-up and as-building activities.
  • Oversee effective implementation and optimization o preventative maintenance program for field instrumentation and FGS systems.
  • Participate and actively contribute to Model Reviews, HAZOPs, HAZIDs, SIL Reviews
  • Provide engineering support to major projects group, sustaining capital projects group as well as other engineering disciplines at Albian.
  • Support investigation of instrumentation bad actors and take actions to improve the reliability of field instrumentation by working together with E amp;I maintenance teams as well as providing troubleshooting support as required.

  • Engineering Degree in a relevant field and registration, or eligibility for registration, as a P.Eng or P.L.(Eng.), in Alberta.
  • 10+ years of I amp;C experience with large integrated industrial facilities with significant experience in Oilamp; gas, large utilities or other large industrial settings.
  • Strong knowledge of instrumentation, control valves, shutdown valves, process analyzers and their application. Experience with Fire and Gas detection systems and understanding of relevant codes and design implementation would definitely be an asset.
  • Knowledge of Control and Safety Systems (DCS, PLC, SIS – Foxboro, Honeywell, Rockwell) would be an asset.Additional experience with Fiber Optics, Fire Alarm Systems, Building Automation Systems, and CCTV systems is beneficial.
