Job Description

WolfTrek Corp. is a leading contractor specializing in technical and construction staffing services.We are currently hiring for a contract position for a Lead, Instream Projects based in either Sparwood or Calgary.In this role you will be responsible for advancing project development of stream restoration in support of meeting permit requirements and environmental commitments. You will lead projects from pre-feasibility through to execution, and into monitoring working closely with the Substantiable Development teams and various internal stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.To be successful, we are looking for someone with a strong understanding of project management processes that is coupled with excellent collaborative, interpersonal, and communication skills. You will need to establish and maintain strong relationships and a collaborative culture with a wide range of individuals representing numerous stakeholder and subject matter expert teams from across the organization to build and lead project teams in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. In this role you will:

  • Cultivate a culture of strong integration and collaboration with internal stakeholders and SME’s groups across the organization to ensure alignment, transparency and engagement throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies.
  • Manage stream restoration projects via the EVR Project Development Framework from planning, design and engineering, through execution (field construction) and into monitoring.
  • Schedule and plan resources required to successfully support all project aspects, including permitting, procurement, pre-construction assessments, health and safety planning, environmental management and site restoration activities.
  • Develop and maintain project scopes, budgets and schedules.
  • Coordinate and manage multiple consultants, contractors and external subject matter experts across a range of disciplines, including water quality modelling, terrestrial and aquatic sciences, restoration ecology, fisheries biology, hydrology, geomorphology, etc.
  • Proactively manage project changes, risk, and key decisions through efficient, consistent, timely engagement with Senior Management, including documentation, analysis, and approval processes.
  • Collaborate and inform mine operations to ensure safe and efficient management of contractors and consultants working on-site and mitigation of permit non-compliance-related risks.
Requirements:
  • Degree in Earth Science (Biology, Geology, Physical Geography, Agrology, Forestry), Engineering, or other environmental-related field, experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Hold a professional designation and meet the BC provincial requirements of a qualified professional for applicable programs is considered an asset.
  • A minimum 4 years experience of environmental or project management experience.
  • Technical knowledge and demonstrated experience in stream remediation and fish habitat restoration, field monitoring and sampling programs, preferably in a resources management or mining environment, is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of provincial (Water Sustainability Act) and federal regulatory approvals (Fisheries Act) practices, legislation, and regulations related to instreams works.
  • Project work experience, including project management, engineering design, ecological design, and on-site construction.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with various groups to efficiently execute field programs in a variety of weather/seasonal settings.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in both formal and informal settings.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite®: Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook, Sharepoint, Word and Adobe.
