DescriptionAbout MRUFounded in 1910 and located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Mount Royal University grew into a vibrant college in the 1930s and became a mid-sized university in 2009. About the RoleThe Iniskim Centre invites applications for the position of Indigenous University Bridging Program (IUBP) Administrative Assistant. This is a part-time permanent position working 17.5 hours per week. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the IUBP Administrator to support approximately 80 students with course registration.
  • Maintain student records, such as contact information, grade reports, and academic standing.
  • Plan, prepare materials for and co-host events such as information sessions for prospective students, as well as New Student Orientation.
  • Coordinate with MRU departments like the Office of the Registrar to confirm course scheduling, instructor contracts, and budget allocations.
  • Represent the Iniskim Centre at various events and gatherings on-campus, such as Open House and Convocation.
  • Meet with students and build a supportive relationship, such as identifying resources on campus that can assist with academic and personal success.
  • Attend Iniskim Centre staff meetings.
  • Assist with scheduling, promotion, program logistics and budgeting.
Qualifications
  • Two-year postsecondary diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 - 5 years experience working in an administrative capacity, ideally within a postsecondary environment.
  • Proficiency with word processing, databases, and spreadsheets.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with Indigenous communities, protocols, and ways of knowing.
