Job Description

Job DescriptionPosition OverviewThe Environmental and Health and Safety (EH amp;S) Manager is responsible for the development, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing continuous improvement of the corporate EH amp;S program. The EH amp;S Manager is responsible for leading, coaching, and managing the Health and Safety Coordinator, and promoting partnership with all departments in ensuring compliance with COR® 2020 and applicable EH amp;S legislation.This role is with Cornerstone Building Brands, primarily supporting Ply Gem Canada operations in Calgary.Please note that this is a fully on-site position with no hybrid or remote work options available.Key Responsibilities

  • Directs and manages the EH amp;S team.
  • Collaborates with management to lead impactful change initiatives and drive safety culture by implementing proactive process improvements and providing support across all plants.
  • Provides expert knowledge and guidance to foster a positive health and safety culture and effectively manage occupational risks.
  • Manages the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of corporate environmental, health and safety (EH amp;S) policies, procedures, safe work instructions, and training.
  • Implements standardized, actionable, safety metrics and communication protocol to leadership teams to drive safety improvement.
  • Conducts routine site reviews with the leadership team to define site-specific EH amp;S goals, and tracks progress.
  • Supports the investigation of all EH amp;S related incidents ensuring all risk reduction, and corrective/preventive actions are identified and completed in a timely manner.
  • Develops effective reporting tools and frameworks to monitor accident investigation reports, recommendations, findings, and mitigations, ensuring these elements are tracked and evaluated.
  • Facilitates the return to work of injured workers and assists in the management of workers compensation claims.
  • Monitors and communicates regulatory changes to the organization, recommending changes to result in compliance, and provides technical support when needed.
  • Assists with external audits and ensures the implementation of corrective actions for compliance, e.g., COR® 2020.
  • Collaborates with provincial regulatory authorities to address and resolve any compliance or practice violations.
