Job Description

Our client in the South East of Calgary is looking for a Senior Estimator to join their growing team. This key role will lead the estimating process for complex electrical and integration projects. You’ll collaborate with engineers, suppliers, and project managers to ensure accurate and competitive bids, while mentoring junior estimators and supporting continuous improvement across the estimating function.   • Review and assess incoming Requests for Quotation (RFQs), ensuring accurate interpretation of project scope, schedule, and client requirements.
  • Prepare detailed material and labor cost estimates using estimating software (Accubid, McCormick, or Excel).
  • Lead the preparation of formal proposals, ensuring compliance with RFQ specifications and internal standards.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Contractors, and Suppliers to gather technical inputs and confirm pricing and timelines.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and intermediate estimators, supporting team development and performance.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and client discussions to clarify scope and build relationships.
  • Support change order pricing and impact analysis during project execution.
  • Participate in project handovers to ensure seamless knowledge transfer to the project management team.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts, including estimating processes, documentation practices, and use of new tools or systems.
Requirements:
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology from a recognized Canadian institution.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical estimating - preferably in industrial or commercial construction environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian electrical codes, standards, and industry best practices.
  • Proficiency in estimating software such as Accubid, McCormick, or Excel-based tools.
  • Previous experience working with switchgear, E-houses, electrical field construction, or integration projects is a strong asset.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and support the professional development of others.
  • Comfortable working on-site full-time in SE Calgary and engaging directly with production and project teams.
