Senior Innovation Engineer page is loaded Senior Innovation Engineer Apply locations CA-AB-Calgary time type Full time posted on Posted 5 Days Ago job requisition id R-404716 Worker Type: EmployeeGroup: Operations Innovation DepartmentJob Post End Date: 08/03/2023 About this opportunity:Reporting to the Senior Manager, Operations Innovation, the Senior Innovation Engineer is responsible for portfolio management and front-line contact and innovation support to the various Upstream producing assets, as well as key reservoir simulation support.As part of the Operations Innovation team, this role will be the key reservoir engineering contact for all innovation projects involving the subsurface and reservoir, supporting Oil Sands, Heavy Oil, Atlantic Canada, and Conventional businesses. Also , they will identify and evaluate specific innovation opportunities from a sub-surface perspective and lead projects that arise from these opportunities.The successful candidate will be a key participant in several COSIA working groups and consortia, acting as Cenvous ’ representative on these industries technical groups.Responsibilities:

  • Primary point of contact with Upstream Subsurface (Oil Sands, Conventional, Natural Gas, Atlantic, Asia-Pacific) asset teams for sub-surface, reservoir, and solvent related innovation while acting like a key contact for COSIA and Pathways working group/joint industry projects as required.
  • Communicateamp; collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (Reservoir/Subsurface, Facility Engineering, Operations, Maintenanceamp; Reliability, New Ventures and Asset Development) to identify problems and asset-specific strategic drivers.
  • Collaborate with and advise the Developmentamp; Production business units on innovation activities within their space and supervise and report on the full portfolio of their innovation activities.
  • Collaborate with asset teams to implement supporting and value-adding technologies and other innovation opportunities and support assets by analyzing subsurface performance using reservoir modelling, data analytics, and statistics.
  • Develop and handle a portfolio of opportunities and active projects related to Upstream assets.
  • Rank asset innovation opportunities within the portfolio by assessing their economic potential, risk, and strategic alignment.
  • Progress Upstream asset-related innovations by collaborating with internal business and technical teams and external resources to de-risk and deploy opportunities.
  • Facilitate field piloting and demonstration in collaboration with asset personnel and/or Innovation Field Pilots team as appropriate.
  • Support the Scenario Planner with evaluating and ranking the portfolio of technologies.
  • Collaborate with Operations Innovation colleagues on projects supporting other assets ( e.g., Downstream, Midstream) and Upstream surface activities, as required and mentor (or formally manage, to be determined ) more junior Operation Innovations colleague(s).
Qualifications:
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
  • An undergraduate degree in engineering, science, or related subject
  • 8 + years of Engineering experience in the Oilamp; Gas Industry is preferred
  • Consideration will be given to keen individuals with less than 8 years of experience but have a reputation of showing ability to learn quickly, balance their priorities and being a creative problem solver
  • Familiar with thermal reservoir simulation ( e.g., CMG Suite, tNavigator ) and experience working on an operating asset
  • Knowledge of SAGD Reservoir operations or facilities processes would be considered an asset
  • A strong interest in technology and innovation and interest in commercialization of technology including negotiations, commercial terms, IP and licensing would be beneficial.
