SummaryThe General Accountantamp; Payroll Administrator will be responsible for the accurate and timely completion of the Division’s general accounting functions including payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable. The successful candidate will be committed to the highest level of integrity, trust and responsibility; brings a hands-on approach to day-to-day operations and exhibit strong communication, analytic, organization and interpersonal skills.Responsibilities
  • Perform the accounts receivable process, including the timely invoicing and collection of all accounts receivables and the monitoring and collection of overdue balances.
  • Perform month end, quarter end and year end closing of the accounting periods and reconciliation of all accounts including bank reconciliation.
  • Maintenance of capital asset register; construction in progress account and calculation of monthly depreciation.
  • Perform the payroll process, including reconciliation of hours, updating of changes to records, exemptions, withholdings and deductions and processing of weekly payroll, bonuses and other employee compensation.
  • Investigate and resolve any discrepancies, conflicts or errors.
  • Assure compliance with established policies, procedures, and adherence to provincial and federal regulations.
  • Assist Controller with other financial and accounting matters, including month-end, quarter-end, year-end, year-end financial audit and account analysis.
  • Prepare reports; maintain required records, reports, and files in an organized manner.
  • Interact with, maintain and safeguard the accounting and information systems used to process payroll, receivables and payables.
  • Assist in the administration and control of the financial operation of the division.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all financial, cost and employee information.
  • Accurate recording of time including timeclock, job activities, and other data entry.
  • Regular and punctual attendance at work.
  • Compliance with relevant policies, procedures and instructions, including Code of Conduct.
Education and Experience
  • Degree in Accounting is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of general accountant with payroll, receivables and payables experience
  • Must have general ledger experience along with bank reconciliations
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now is preferred.
  • Strong payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable background.
  • Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, business concepts and operations as it relates to payroll, accounts receivable and accounts payable
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of general accounting systems with internal reporting.
  • Strong Excel experience, including VLOOKUP and Pivot Table functions.
  • Strong oral and written communication and inter-personal skills.
  • High level of organization and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment a plus.
  • Advanced level MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Office 365.
  • Advanced level ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of Power BI a plus.
