Role: Sr Design Lead (Mech) - Industrial Automation Work Location: Cambridge, ON, Canada (Onsite) Position Type: Open for Both (Contract and Full Time Permanent) Looking for a seasoned engineering leader with a proven track record in the Delivery of projects in the designamp; and simulation of Manufacturing lines Preferred candidate with the following skills: Perform engineering calculations for machine and tool designs, including strength, speed, horsepower, temperature, pressure, and force. Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to determine shape, dimensions, hardness etc. Create working and detail drawings, and bills of materials using AutoCAD and Solid Works. Ensure designs comply with applicable standards (e.g., OSHA, CE). Review drawings for accuracy, material selection, machining techniques, finishes, and hardness. Must be capable of designing tooling from sketches or verbal concepts. Communicate design changes and task progress to the Manager, Mechanical Engineering, and supervising designer. Lead the design, development and implementation of lean manufacturing systems that reduce waste, increase throughput, and shorten lead times. Lead the development and implementation of job/workstation designs with focus on ergonomics and operator satisfaction. Lead the application of tooling, equipment, automation, robotics, and material handling systems that improve safety, quality, and cost. Assist the Lead the development and maintenance of standard engineering data - layouts, process flow diagrams, capacity charts, time studies, productivity metrics, etc. Partner with Product Development and Design Engineering to identify opportunities for Design for Manufacturing. Assist in other areas and perform other duties, as needed. (This is not intended to be a comprehensive list of activities, duties, or responsibilities required for this job.) Expert-level knowledge of Manufacturing Processes, cycle time calculation, Ergonomics, FMEA, DFM, DFA and throughput calculation. Skills: Proficient in AutoCAD and Solid Works. Strong knowledge of drafting principles. Experience in designing tooling from sketches or verbal concepts. Understanding of pneumatics. Effective communication and teamwork skills. Analytical skills for engineering calculations and design analysis. Attention to detail for reviewing drawings and documentation. Familiarity with ISO procedures and quality standards Education: Bachelor #39;s degree in Engineering is preferred, or a related field with relevant experience, or demonstrated skills and abilities. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as presentation skills. Highly motivated and deeply responsible. Min 10 years of relevant experience
