We are seeking the services of an energetic and self motivated individual to join the Candle Lake Regional Special Constable Service as a SPECIAL CONSTABLE/PEACE OFFICER.Reporting to the Duty Sergeant you will be responsible to:
  • Enforce assigned Provincial, Federal and Municipal statutes.
  • Respond to complaints and inquiries promptly, effectively and efficiently.
  • Liaise with law enforcement personnel, agencies and other related organizations.
  • Prepare and attend Court.
  • Carry out administrative functions including all aspects of record management system.
Qualifications:
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Ability to build and maintain positive professional working relationships and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work shift work including evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors under ALL weather conditions.
  • Physically capable of performing a wide variety of physical tasks including lifting to 80 lbs.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Proficient with Mobile Public Safety and Report Exec RMS
  • Enhanced Reliability Security Clearance
  • Current C.P.I.C. clearance or knowledge of C.P.I.C.
  • Successful completion of Physical Abilities Evaluation Test (PARE) or the Sheriff’s Officer Abilities Test (SOPAT) or the ability to complete the evaluation and pass
  • Certification or willing to obtain: Baton and OC Spray certification, Radar and EVOC, Heavy Vehicle Weight Certification, Verbal judo for peace officers, I.M.I.M., P.P.C.T., Conflict Resolution, First Aid, and safe use of non-restricted firearms
  • Alcotest FST ASD certification
  • Commercial vehicle and heavy vehicle enforcement training
  • Other training as may be required to meeting appointment standards in the Police Act of Saskatchewan to qualify for Special Constable appointment
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Bachelor of Social Work, Human Justice, or Arts with a focus in human studies; or a grade 12 or GED, or training and education one would normally get through employment as a police officer.
  • Must be a Canadian citizen, landed immigrant or have permanent residency for a period of 3 years.
  • No criminal convictions for which a Pardon has not been granted
  • No recent illicit drug use
  • No medical restrictions that would hinder ability to perform Constable duties
  • Previous experience in municipal enforcement and/or animal control considered an asset
  • Previous experience in parking enforcement will be considered an asset
  • Previous experience in issuing municipal orders in relation to unsightly properties will be considered an asset
  • Valid Canadian firearms license
  • well developed written and verbal communication skills.
