Job Description

General ManagerJob SummaryThe General Manager will direct and control operational activities for Noëls funeral homes. The major objectives are to provide the highest quality services and products, to satisfy the needs of any client family, maintain a positive employee relations atmosphere while ensuring profitability for the location. Individual location responsibility assignments will be created with input from management. The General Manager will also perform duties of Funeral Director such as manage, prepare, and direct funeral services, conduct and coordinate the delivery of remains to the Funeral Home. Geographic boundaries for this position may encompass more than one firm or location in an area of multiple company / cooperative operations.Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner so that you get along with families, co-workers, and management.
  • Remain up-to-date and current on licensing updates as assigned by the Provincial regulations or company.
  • Comply with the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures as outlined by Government Regulation and Company Policies and Procedures.
  • Treat human remains with respect and decorum.
  • Possess necessary licensure and certification to meet Provincial requirements to perform the functions of a Funeral Director.
  • Light housekeeping to keep the facilities and grounds in perfect order. This includes keeping work area tidy, picking up litter on the grounds and general straightening up.
  • Administer Funeral Service Group Policies and Procedures.
  • Coordinate all administrative, operational, and marketing activities of the location with other home office management and staff.
  • Supervise or schedule staffing requirements to provide personnel for making arrangements with client families, direction of funeral, memorial, or other services for client families.
  • Implement approved advertising and public relation programs in the location.
  • Monitor and ensure adherence to home office policy regarding legal and ethical conduct.
  • Evaluate the quality of products and services provided client families and implement corrective action when standards are not achieved.
  • Administer collection of accounts receivable, using prudent business practices, judgment, and diplomacy. 15.Administer home office and area policies and procedures relating to selection room management and presentations including ancillary funeral products.
  • Orient and train each new employee in any job classification when the employee first enters the new position.
  • Ensure adherence to provincial, federal, local, and home office compliance regulations.
  • Maintain positive employee relations daily including regularly scheduled staff meetings.
  • Manage performance coaching for associates, ensuring completion of bi-annual team performance reviews and self-assessments.

  • Ability to tolerate exposure to hazardous substances subject to government requirements. Occasional lifting, pushing, and pulling, with assistance of objects up to approximately 400 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity required for clerical tasks.
  • Ability to travel by standard methods of transportation.
  • Must be capable of communicating with co-workers, management, and members of the public.
