Your Opportunity:Alberta Health Services, South Zone Medical Affairs, is currently recruiting a Physician Assistant to work in the community of Cardston. Under the Supervision of a Physician, the Physician Assistant (PA) will provide general medical care to in- patients with a wide variety of medical conditions. Cardston is located 45 minutes southwest of Lethbridge on Highway 5 and within sight of Montana and Waterton Lakes National Park, the Town of Cardston straddles the Lee Creek valley and serves as a shopping and tourist hub for southwest Alberta. The primary industries in Cardston are business and community service, retail and wholesale, construction, and public administration.Description:The primary responsibility of the Physician Assistant (PA) is to provide comprehensive direct patient care, within their skill matrix, as a central member of the team. The PA is responsible to perform comprehensive assessment, make differential diagnoses, order appropriate testing, and plan the clinical management of patients. The Physician Assistant is required to: Provide direct clinical care to patients and consult with and refer to other health care professionals as indicated. Recommend and explain appropriate diagnostic tests and treatment. Instruct and educate patients. Confer with patients or family members to address any follow- up care concerns. Fully document all aspects of patient care and assist with completion of all required documentation. Provide and document clinical instructions as required. Deal regularly with community physicians, other health care providers, and community organizations to facilitate ongoing comprehensive patient care management. Ensure continuing education, training and development is undertaken to meet CAPA and patient care requirements. Work collaboratively with all health care providers, patients and families, to ensure continuity of care is maintained. In exceptional circumstances, provide additional services under the direction and supervision of a Physician, within the clinical competence of the PA. Work within AHS Policies and Procedures.
