• perform summer / winter road patrolling
• monitor roadway conditions to ensure any hazards and/or deficiencies are addressed;
• mobilize hired equipment and resources as required to ensure established level of service criteria are met;
• inspect work performed by maintenance and construction contractors to ensure compliance to standards and contractual agreements;
• undertake / support various maintenance activities as required.

Note:

• During the winter season you will be required to work rotating shifts on a 24 hour/7 day a week basis, including nights, weekends and statutory holiday.

How do I qualifyMandatory

• The position requires the successful candidate to have a valid class G drivers license or equivalent. The offer of employment is conditional upon the successful candidate providing proof that they have a valid drivers license upon being hired.

Technical and Legislative Knowledge

• you have knowledge and experience in construction and/or maintenance practices including inspection and road patrolling and related administrative duties
• you have knowledge and experience of highway maintenance and/or construction standards and specifications
• you have knowledge of related policies, acts and regulations to interpret and assess legislative impacts on contract related issues

Essential Skills

• you have communication and interpersonal skills
• you have analytical, negotiation and problem solving skills
• you have mathematical skills to assist with the assessment of contract related issues
• you have organizational and planning skills to effectively carry out assigned inspection and monitoring duties
• you have the ability to interpret contract drawings and documents
• you have the ability to monitor contractors operations, assess contractors and consultants work for compliance
• you are proficient in using computer software and applications to complete reports and spreadsheets
