The company grows Atlantic salmon using a proprietary water treatment technology which emits zero waste back to the environment. Sustainable Blue is fully committed to clean and responsible aquaculture practices which leave behind only a minimal footprint on the local environment and ecology.The company is looking to hire a person to be trained up to the position of Aquaculture Supervisor at its land-based salmon facility in Centre Burlington, Hants County. The responsibilities of the job include:

• Operation of advanced water treatment systems and technology (full training given)
• Performing standard daily checks and routines around the production buildings
• Fish husbandry, including harvesting, pumping, grading and sorting
• Basic systems and instrument maintenance
• Cleaning and organising the production building areas
• Verbal and written reporting
• Supervision of junior staff
• Record keeping

Candidate Qualities – this job would suit somebody who:

• Has an interest in aquaculture and/or fishing
• Has at least a basic mechanical aptitude
• Is good at problem solving using logical, structured thinking
• May have a University Degree
• Is a good communicator
• Is capable of handling physical tasks
• Has some experience of managing others

Working HoursThe farm operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. An Aquaculture Supervisor generally works from 08:00 to 16:30 for four days in a row. On two of these four days, the Aquaculture Supervisor will remain behind at the farm overnight to perform emergency alarm response cover in addition to one other employee. (Catering and accommodation facilities are available at the farm for this purpose. Overnight supervision is only performed after satisfactory completion of the company’s internal training syllabus which takes approximately two to three months).After this four-day shift, the Aquaculture Supervisor receives four days and nights off.Weekend working and working through public holidays is a requirement of the job.RemunerationDuring training: $46,500-00 p.a. paid bi-weekly, less statutory deductions.After training: $62,275-00 p.a. paid bi-weekly, less statutory deductions.The company has a medical benefit plan in place where the company and the employee share plan costs on a 50/50 basis. New staff are required to serve a three-month probationary period before being eligible to join the plan.Quick Apply
