Job Description

Truthfulness | Fairness | Value | LoyaltyAre you an insurance specialist with a background in construction or tradesLoss Control SpecialistAs a Loss Control Specialist, you will inspect commercial client sites to assess and rate risk exposures and develop innovative risk and liability improvement strategies. To succeed in this position, you will have a strong understanding of commercial risks and be able to confidentially counsel and educate stakeholders on hazard management.Here is what a typical day looks like

  • Travel onsite to inspect commercial businesses on behalf of Western and provide loss prevention recommendations to reduce the frequency and severity of losses arising from property, crime and liability
  • Be an intermediary between Underwriting, Sales and Service departments and the policyholder in the delivery and execution of Loss Control survey and service practices
  • Collect information on client accounts such as historical claims analysis, loss trends, assess the possibility of future losses and other unique technical areas
  • Be well informed of industry and technical news and developments and share the knowledge gained with peers, business partners, and policyholders
  • Be our advocate, develop and deliver risk management seminars for commercial insurance clients and employees
The value you bring
  • General Level 2 Insurance License required
  • Valid drivers license and ability to travel to various client sites to perform surveys (up to 40%). Travel expenses are reimbursed
  • You have previously worked with commercial insurance policies and are familiar with the underwriting process
  • You have a background in construction or trades (Mechanical / Electrical / Plumbing / Technical) that will enable you to identify liabilities and risks within client facilities
  • You communicate effectively through oral and written mediums to transfer information between various stakeholders, deliver clear reports, provide education and training, and decipher complicated jargon into simple terms
