Join our team and welcome our guests to extraordinary experiences at their home away from home.Job DescriptionMaintenance Engineer - 4th Class Power EngineerAs a certified 4th Class Power Engineer, you will perform highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain the property #39;s facilities and equipment to ensure a safe and functional environment for our guests and colleagues.Our Cultureamp; Benefits:- An inclusive, empowering, and positive workplace, where we place people at the heart of everything we do- The opportunity to have fun at work alongside passionate hospitality professionals who strive to make the world a more welcoming place- The opportunity to live, work and play across the world through our employee travel and internal transfer programs- A competitive rate starting at $31.16 (80% of rate) per hour increasing to $38.95 after 3 months and bi-annual increases- Complimentary meal through our Colleague Dining Program- Complimentary uniform laundering- Up to $150 per year for safety footwear allowance- Up to $400 per year for tool replacement allowance- Complimentary hotel stay with breakfast for two through our BE OUR GUEST program- Employee benefit card offering discounted room and foodamp; beverage rates at Fairmontamp; Accor properties worldwide- The opportunity to work in a luxury hotel environment and a Vancouver heritage building with a historic legacy dating back to 1939- Free learning programs through our Academies and discounted eCornell courses- Ability to make a difference through our Corporate Social Responsibility activities, like Planet 21 and RiiSE- Annual paid vacation, sick leave, up to statutory holidays and birthday leave- A comprehensive benefits package including extended medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and disability benefits- A company-matched pension plan and ability to enroll in the Group Registered Retirement Savings Plan (GRSP)- A monthly travel reimbursement for TransLink monthly passesWhat you will be doing:- Consistently offer professional, engaging, and friendly service- Inspect and perform preventative maintenance on property #39;s facilities and equipment- Complete all assigned Preventative Maintenance Orders and Daily Work Orders in a timely and efficient manner- Take daily readings of the boiler house, chiller plant, water entry room, etc.- Inspect all areas of the property for safety issues and take immediate corrective action- Assist guests regarding property facilities in an informative and helpful way- Monitor the hotel #39;s energy management goals in conjunction with Fairmont and ownership standards- Promptly respond and follow up to guest and colleague requests to resolve problems and prevent future issues- Uphold the highest standard of internal and external customer service at all times- Support and follow the Hotel #39;s Healthamp; Safety mission and program- Actively participate and promote the Company #39;s sustainability and environmental program- Work closely with the Chief Engineer and team to assist with the successful completion of projects and renovations- Follow all other policies, procedures, and standards of the Hotel and CompanyPerform all other duties as assignedQualificationsYour experience and skills include:- Level 4 Power Engineer Certificate required- Relevant building maintenance experience is an asset- Pool operator #39;s certificate or experience in pool maintenance and chemistry is a strong asset- Other trade qualifications including carpentry, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc. an asset- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Outlook, Excel, and industry-related software- Knowledge of building codes, fire, and health department regulations- Knowledge of energy management, building automation systems, and digital fire control systems- Strong organizational, interpersonal and problem solving abilities- Highly responsibleamp; reliable- Must be a self-starter and self-motivator with ability to take initiative- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills- Ability to maintain positive and objective outlook in challenging situations- Must be physically fit and well-groomed- Ability to lead by example with a consistently high standard of performance- Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, overnights, rotating shifts, extended hours, and available for emergenciesThe physical job requirements include:- Constant standing and walking throughout shift- Frequent lifting and carrying up to 30lbs- Frequent kneeling, pushing, pulling, bending- Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and rampsAdditional InformationVisa Requirements:Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
