Influential and persuasive, you are able to build connections across organizations and drive decarbonization.Please note that this is a temporary position with an expected duration of 15months.As the Manager, Climate Changeamp; Carbon, your role is pivotal in guiding leadership on climate-related priorities and leading external reporting on annual progress. With a focus on making Canfor a global leader in sustainability, you advocate for the role of the forest sector in achieving net zero. Additionally, you track global regulatory initiatives and policies related to climate change for relevance to Canfor #39;s operations. As a key member of the Environmentamp; Sustainability leadership team, you contribute to the corporate ESG strategy and implement priority actions from the Climate Change Strategy, driving progress toward Canfor #39;s climate goals.The life of the Manager, Climate Changeamp; Carbon includes:

  • Guide Canfor #39;s leadership on climate change - related initiatives, priorities, or policy developments
  • Provide advice and technical guidance to internal stakeholders to build capacity in support of the ongoing decarbonization of Canfor #39;s operations and supply chain
  • Oversee annual corporate GHG (greenhouse gas) emission reporting and assurance process
  • Contribute content for annual climate change-related disclosures
For this role, ideally come equipped with:
  • Education in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field
  • Relevant industrial, technical, or regulatory experience.
  • Ability to advance climate change related objectives while working with a variety of stakeholders and partners.
  • Ability to commit to a 15 month temporary contract
Preferably, you have a strong grasp of sustainability principles, including ethical, social, environmental, cultural, and economic dimensions in business. Ideal qualifications include knowledge of corporate emissions accounting with the GHG protocol, knowledge of decarbonization pathways, and familiarity with climate change policies across North America. Experience with climate scenario analysis, forest carbon, carbon offset projects, the Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) and familiarity with offset credit markets is advantageous, and a background in forestry is ideal.The ideal location for this role is Vancouver; however, we remain receptive to applications from individuals in any Canfor locationThe salary range for this position is: $118,000 - $147,500Please Note: The range provided is for base salary only.
