This 113 year old, non-profit organization has an annual operating budget of over $70 million dollars and generates revenue through four activity streams: the 15 day annual summer Fair and winter Fair which average more than 700,000 people annually, Playland amusement park which welcomes 400,000 guests annually including Fright Nights, and a busy year-round portfolio of events including concerts, trade shows and film, cultural and community events. In total we bring over 2 million people through the site each year. The fourth activity stream is park care and facility maintenance. With a focus on these core values, we are committed to achieving our mission which is toquot;Deliver Memorable Experiences quot; for all who interact with the PNE whether it is our guests, our employees or the community.Why join our Team- Exhilarating and fun-loving culture- Flexible work environment- Opportunity for free or discounted tickets to shows, events, sports games, and much more- Staff discounts for Playland, The Fair, and Fright Nights, as well as all PNE Food Stands- Competitive compensation package- Opportunity to create lasting memories and friendships!What will you do this yearIn your role as an Operator Specialist, your primary accountabilities will include:Operational Duties- Read and interpret work orders, maps and blueprints for all year-round events and self-produced events.- Suggest improvements to equipment and equipment related procedures.- Effective interpersonal skills, including tact diplomacy and flexibility to work effectively with management, staff, contractors, and the public.- Set standard for equipment and vehicle cleanliness.- Ensure work is completed within specified time, and notify supervisor if difficulties arise- Operate vehicles and equipment as required for maintenance, construction, and snow removal- Perform minor routine maintenance on mobile equipment- Lead small team on site for a variety of tasks.- Lead operation for a variety of mobile and mechanical equipment.- Other duties as required.Safetyamp; Training- Lead with a safety-first mindset and ensure all team members are working within Worksafe BC regulations, documenting toolbox talks, using FLHA #39;s and all other safety related documents.- Abide by corporate policies and reinforce corporate policies among all team members.- Assist Foreperson III in the Coaching and Mentoring of all labour crew.- Must maintain valid equipment certifications.- Review and Follow Safety Documentation (Toolbox Talks, FLHA, SOG #39;s Policies) to staff pertaining to Equipment Operations.- Ensure crews are adhering to safety policies and are educated on best practices.- Ensure crews are informed of and are wearing the appropriate PPE for tasks.- Ensure daily vehicle checks are completed and documented and submit work requests for vehicles and equipment that need servicing.- Maintain a safe and clean work environment - site wide.Fair Time Duties- Schedule change based on operational needs- Summer Fair - August 1st to September 30th- Winter Fair - December 1st to January 15thWhat else- Previous experience within an Equipment Operator capacity is required.- Must have considerable applicable equipment operation experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.- Must have a demonstrated ability to operate all equipment safely and effectively.- Must be skilled in the operation of specified equipment and in use of tools used in servicing and minor maintenance.- Must possess knowledge of the methods and practices used in servicing, adjusting and maintaining equipment operated.- A valid 5th class BC Driver #39;s license and the ability to provide a clear and up-to-date Driver #39;s Abstract is required.- Forklift Certification required.- Must be trained and have experience on the following equipment: Skid Steers, forklifts, zoom booms, sweeper trucks, flusher tractors, Ice resurfacing machines, UTV #39;s, Snow removal equipment, loaders, blowers, hotsie pressure washers, scissor lifts, and scrubbers.- Must have knowledge of Work Safe BC Regulations.- Must maintain valid equipment certifications.- Must have knowledge of Work Safe BC Regulations.- Knowledge of servicing and maintaining equipment frequently used in construction trade is considered an asset.- Successful candidates must undergo a Criminal Record Check.- Work Schedule: Tuesday to Friday 7:00AM - 5:00 PM OR Friday to Monday 7:00AM - 5:00 PM.Who are you- Passionate- Detail-oriented- Strong organizational skills- Eager self-starter- Motivated by fast-paced environments- Effective and adaptive communicator- Committed to striving for excellenceamp; evolutionWhere and when to APPLYApplications can be submitted via the PNE website at www.pne.ca/jobs and will be accepted until the role is filled.Preference will be given to candidates who submit their resume/cover letter before Sunday, October 15.
