As a member of this collaborative team, you can expect a safe, diverse and inclusive environment, and on-going learning and career development opportunities.About the Role:Reporting to the Chief Estimator of the BC Buildings Group, the Pre-Construction Manager will oversee the estimating and budgeting process as well as project schedule development. With a strong background in Estimating for commercial buildings projects, you will work closely with the Proposal and Estimating Teams to provide input into proposal development and the overall business plan. You will also manage, build and maintain strong working relationships with clients.As a Pre-Construction Manager at Graham, you will:

  • Define and manage pre-construction requirements for projects.
  • Oversee, collaborate, and align the teams involved in the pre-construction process.
  • Develop and support the procurement strategy of the project.
  • Analyze and review project-specific risks and maintain ownership of the risk register.
  • Develop and manage the bid / pre-construction schedule.
  • Manage the budget and estimating requirements for the project.
  • Collaborate with the Proposal Manager or provide input to develop the proposal.
  • Ensure that design management is aligned with the bid / pre-construction requirements.
  • Work with Senior Leadership in the region to provide input to the overall business plan.
  • Work with the Design Manager to complete the design review at various stages of design development.
  • Develop and implement strategic planning to maximize the chances of winning a job, including design strategies, partnering strategies, estimating strategies, strategic RFIs, bid qualifications, and final negotiations.
  • Develop the pre-construction process, for continuous improvement, effectiveness, and efficiencies.
  • Ensure resources and time are in line with the agreed pre-construction costs.
  • Oversee and manage the pre-construction budget.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, consultants, and stakeholders, ensuring regular communication occurs.
  • Demonstrate leadership and manage and lead the pre-construction process.
  • Act as a point of contact for the Execution team for issues with the owner when the relationship is assigned.
  • Assist in the mitigation of conflicts over differences in the understanding of contracts.
Qualifications / Experience:
  • Completion of a university bachelor program in a technical, business, or scientific field of study; degree in Engineering or Architecture is preferred.
  • 7-10 years of experience in Estimating, including previous exposure to design-build, and other projects in an intermediate to senior position.
  • Have an existing network of consultants and subcontractors in the region.
  • Good understanding and knowledge of design processes, construction matters, finance, and contracts.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Ability to identify, test, and obtain consensus on alternative proposals.
Compensation:
  • $128,000-$200,000 per annum
  • Salary will commensurate with education and expereince.
